This Fall 2016, Chanel has collaborated with Lucia Pica to release a completely edgy and fashion forward collection of makeup.  Chanel Le Rouge Collection N°1 evolves around the color red, exploring the abstract and expressive resonances of the traditional color.  Everything in the collection features red in prominence, at the same time subverting the shade.  And this play on multiplicity is best exhibited in the pair of Le Vernis that I will be showing you today. Red is most conventionally used for nails and lips, so it is no surprise to see it featured here in Le Rouge Collection N°1.  Chanel makes the best red nail polishes in my opinion, and it never ceases to amaze me how they are able to keep on producing new shades of red in spite of their already extensive range. Chanel Le Vernis Longue Tenue Rouge Puissant (528) is a sensuous and striking red that is perfectly neutral in tone to be flattering on all skin tones.  It is very interesting to see how it photographs darker and almost wine-red under indoor tungsten lighting (as above), but a much brighter almost cherry-red under sunlight (as in the first opening image).  I find both instances to be incredibly […]
